Title: MHS equilibria in the non-resistive limit to the randomly forced resistive magnetic relaxation equations

Abstract: In this talk, we discuss relaxation processes in plasmas based on magnetohydrodynamics (MHD). Here, relaxation refers to the process by which the magnetic field forms self-organized structures while decreasing its energy. A classical example is Taylor relaxation, but in fusion plasmas more complex relaxed states are also observed. In this talk, we study what kinds of states magnetic fields relax to, using a statistical-mechanical approach based on magnetic relaxation equations. This talk is based on joint work with I.-J. Jeong (KIAS), F. Pasqualotto (UCSD), and N. Sato (NIFS).
