Gaston Vergara-Hermosilla obtained his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics at Université de Bordeaux in 2021. He then worked at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth as Assistant Researcher from September 2021 to October 2022, and as a postdoc in the team of Lemarié-Rieusset at Université Paris-Saclay, from November 2022 to August 2024. He joined the Institute for Theoretical Sciences, Westlake University as a Postdoctoral researcher in Mathematical Fluid Dynamics in August 2024.
Dr Vergara-Hermosilla's primary research interests are the analysis and control of non-linear models describing the motion of fluids. In particular, his studies are related to the Cauchy-problem, regularity theories, controllability issues and qualitative behaviour of solutions of Navier-Stokes (type) equations and problems related to fluid-structure interactions.
